National Winner - Interim Manager of the Year Award - 2013

A Worcester boss has been voted the "Interim Manager of the Year" at the inaugural Wessex 100 awards held to celebrate the ‘superheroes’ of the business world. David Jones, from Worcester, was honoured in particular for his work with SONY Europe during his eight and a half months as Interim European Head of Procurement Practice Management.

Leading key elements of their procurement transformation, assisting thousands employees across almost forty countries to buy better value goods and services, David’s work helps SONY save tens of millions of Euros every year.

SONY’s European Procurement Director said: “David brought to the team real professionalism, with an incredible wealth of knowledge and expertise and a dedication and desire to get the job done, but importantly in the right way”

David was delighted to receive the award as National Interim Manager of the Year at the Wessex 100 ceremony, held at Lainston House Hotel, near Winchester. He said: “It was a privilege to lead part of SONY’s procurement transformation, and it is wonderful to be acknowledged in this way”.

The awards, run by the Wessex 100 network, celebrate the best of the interim management profession and aim to raise awareness of the importance of it within business. Interim managers are typically brought in to deliver important projects at short notice, take over when there is a gap in leadership or guide a company through a period of change or crisis.

The event saw six interim managers recognised as finalists or winners and two companies recognised for their contribution to the industry.

Dermot Hill, organiser of the awards, said: “Often the work of an interim manager is kept under the radar, which is why we don’t often get to hear the incredible success stories that are out there, such as the great work carried out by David for SONY Europe.”
